A Little something to wet your tongue:
I found some really interesting stuff. I can't believe I didn't know about this stuff before! The masks, wow, I thought they were just Halloween beliefs, I was way off! The costumes I was used to.I was just surprised about how long they have been around.
Purposes of the masks:
Now, this was a big one. They let 3 actors play 9 parts. They let people in the back ( or didn't buy their tickets on time) see because of the exaggeration. And for those same people, it let them hear better because it was like a microphone. Aren't those just amazing!!!
Purposes of the costumes:
The costumes helped because they helped show the gender. They also showed their social status, which I'm guessing was very helpful. It some times showed the age of the character.
The making and designing of masks:
I have some bad news.... The things used to make the masks didn't last long enough to be examined now, so we only have the vases to examine. Any way, the masks were made of light material, so the actors didn't break their necks carrying heavy masks. Some masks had hair, the hair was either animal or human. There were eye holes for them to see. We wouldn't want them to fall on stage would we?
